Learning Links

These are just a few educational websites that I use here at school with the kids.  However, there are many more!  Feel free to use these at home as well.

Starfall
This website is wonderful.  The kids use at school K-2 so they are already very familiar with it.  It focuses on different phonics skills, as well as higher reading skills.  The kids love it because it is interactive and includes different music and characters.  First graders use this sight during reading groups when they are able to go to the computer station.

If you click the above link "Starfall" it will take you directly to the website.

RAZ Kids
This is another educational website that we use here at school that the kids love!  At this site, kids have the opportunity to read books that are at their specific reading level.  Each level has at least 15 books that your child can listen to or read alone.  There are comprehension questions after reading each books is well which is great!  Once they complete all the books on one level, they get to move up to the next.  For example, if they are on level B and they read all the books and answer all the comprehension questions, then they get to move to level C.  This site is also great because it offers an incentive- the kids get to buy their own Rocket ship!  Once they complete a book, they earn stars.  When they earn a certain amount, they can spend those stars on different things for their rocket.

The books are interesting, and the kids really enjoy spending their stars!  If you are a parent of one of my students and you need my username to log in, it is below.  Happy reading!

This is a wonderful website to practice your spelling words or sight words!  It is an interactive site that makes practicing spelling fun!  It allows you to enter in your spelling word list, and then practice with different options such as flash cards, teach me (words are spelled and read to you), games, and a practice test.  We use the iTunes App on our classroom iPad during reading groups :).
If you click the above link "Spelling City" it will take you directly to the website.
